Dear Sir:
Last week the road traffic on Sandy Lake Road was
changed from the north side of Sandy Lane to the south side.
This was necessary for the construction of Sandy Lake, but
the change has resulted in at least one serious accident and
numerous near misses at this intersection. What is
happening is that drivers approach Sandy Lake Road, and from
habits formed during construction ARE DRIVING THRU THE STOP
SIGN ON HIGHLAND MEADOW CIRCLE WITHOUT STOPPING, AND ALMOST
COLLIDING WITH THE TRAFFIC ON SANDY LAKE ROAD. Again, at
least one accident has happened resulting in the "totaling"
of a Ford Excursion, and $9,000 damage to the other auto.
An attempt was made to discuss this matter with the
construction project manager, but he refused to accept any
responsibility. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. All that is necessary
is one or two additional stop signs, flags, cones, or other
method of reminding a driver to approach the intersection
with caution.
Perhaps you, the City Manager,
matter rather than a victim's attorney.
