Dear Ms. Taylor:
Two weeks ago, we presented information about the Sandy Lake Road Project to Mark
Denton of the Texas Historical Commission. This information consisted of historic maps
along with enlargements of photographs which illustrated the present conditions of Sandy
Lake Road between MacArthur and the Elm Fork. After reviewing this information, he
concurred that backhoe testing only needed to be done in the vicinity of site 41DL12
where it is close to the road and that additional testing is unwarranted due to past
disturbances and the plans for raising the existing roadway.
With this understanding, AR Consultants proposes to conduct the required archaeological
investigations along Sandy Lake Road using a backhoe and operator provided by the City
of Coppell. We anticipate that fieldwork will not take more than two days, and may be
done in a shorter period of time. This work would be done under the authority of an
Antiquities Permit obtained from the Texas Historical Commission and I would be
serving as the Principal Investigator. We expect to have Dr. C. Reid Ferring of the
University of North Texas assist us with the evaluation of the sediments uncovered in the
trenches that are dug. This can be completed for a lump sum of $ 6,000.00.
Thank you for considering AR Consultants. We look forward to working with you on this
project.
