Re:
DeForest Road / Sandy Lake Road Lift Stations Improvements Project # SS 99-01
30" Fome Main - Line C
Dear Mr. Sugg:
The City of Coppell has reviewed the horizontal alignment for Line C and has the following
comments to offer:
1. The bore and casing beneath Sandy Lake Road should extend to the outer limits of the new
proposed Sandy Lake Road.
2. It appears that the proposed force main can go above the existing 8" sanitary sewer and below
the existing concrete channel at approximately Sta. 7+75. This will create an easier installation
though the nursery property.
3. The location of the force main through the City of Coppell Village Parkway Pump Station
property should be moved further away from the fence line, possibly on the west and south side
of the existing trees. The current location, given the chain link fence and the trees, will create a
difficult installation.
4. The proposed force main between approximately Sm. 17+00 and Sta. 23+50 should be
reevaluated. Is it possible to realign the force main behind the back of the curb on the north
side of Village Parkway onto the school property? I realize an easement would need to be
obtained from the school but if in fact that alignment is feasible then we can approach the
school about an easement. The realignment will create an easier installation at MacArthur
Blvd. because the only obstacle would be the existing 8" sewer line as opposed to the 8" sewer
line, 10" water line and the 24" water line. Potentially this would create a much shallower
installation across MacArthur Blvd.
5. Throughout the plans the proposed force main is adjacent to existing storm drains, please
provide the elevation of the storm drains in the profile view.
6. The existing 8" sanitary sewer stub at approximately Sta. 27+25 is not in use. Therefore, a note
should be provided that the sewer line should be plugged at the existing manhole on the east
side of MacArthur Blvd. Once that is accomplished, then the proposed force main can be
installed shallower through this area.
7. It appears as though the fome main between approximately Sta. 34+50 to Sta. 36+00 can be
shifted further west to avoid the tree at Sta. 35+40.
8. Please reevaluate whether or not the proposed fome main can be raised approximately 2 to 2 ½
feet between Sta. 38+00 and Sta. 44+50.
9. The existing trees at Sra. 41+75 and 43+50 should be bored.
10. The proposed deflection in the force main at approximately Sta. 25+20 is in the intersection of
North Village Parkway and MacArthur Blvd. The deflection should be behind the median curb.
11. The tree at approximately Sta. 47+10 should be bored.
12. The existing sanitary sewers at approximately Sta. 51+20 and Sra. 53+70 are not in use.
Therefore, a note should be provided that they should be plugged at the existing manholes on
the northeast side of MacArthur Blvd. Once that is accomplished, it appears that the force main
can be raised approximately two feet from Sta. 51+00 to Sra. 54+50.
13. A note should be added to bore the existing trees at Sta. 49+90 and approximately Sta. 50+75.
14. The location of the beginning of the bore at approximately Sta. 54+20 should be moved further
west to insure that the tree at approximately Sta. 54+20 is bored beneath as opposed to
removed.
15. The force main at approximately Sra. 61+50 to Sra. 63+00 should be moved further north to
avoid the light standard at approximately Sta. 62+20.
16. The trees at approximately Sta. 63+60 and Sta. 66+40 should be bored.
17. The trees at approximately Sta. 67+90, 68+50, Sta. 68+90, 70+30, 70+60, 70+80, & 71 should
be bored. Also, the force main from approximately Sta. 71+00 to Sta. 79+00 should be shifted
to the northeast side of the median to avoid trees.
18. The force main somewhere between Sta. 82+00 and 84+00 should be transitioned to the west
side of the median to avoid trees and other improvements.
19. The force main should transition to the DeForest Road Lif~ Station diagonally across the
Deforest/MacArthur intersection. This will avoid a substantial part of the existing drainage
system.
Once you have had a chance to evaluate these comments please contact this office to schedule a
meeting to discuss them in further detail.
