Presented herein for your evaluation are a project background, scope of service and cost estimate. Background Terra-Mar has made estimates regarding duration and production during construction in order to prepare a cost estimate for each work item required. This proposal contains tests/inspections relevant to: Paving Subgrade Preparation Concrete Pavement Concrete SideWalks Terra-Mar is very interested in providing the Construction Materials Testing services for the project. Therefore, we request you carefully review the on-site duration and frequency of tests in comparison to your estimated construction schedule. As you know, the overall cost of our service to you our client, is directly dependent upon two factors. One is the frequency of sampling and testing set forth in the Contract Documents. The other is the methodology used, and production achieved by the construction contractors. Scope of Services Terra-Mar proposes to provide Construction Materials Testing Services for the project as required by plans and specifications. Those services based on our assumptions will include: 1. Soil sampling, laboratory compaction tests, field gradations and field density testing on as needed basis. 2. Sampling and tests during concrete placements to include molding strength specimens, performance of slump, air content, and temperature tests. 3. Terra-Mar will assign a Project Manager to oversee and track the progress of the daily activities on the project. 11050 Ables Lane, Dallas, Texas 75229 Phone: 972-488-8800 Fax: 972-488-8080 City of Coppell Mr. Larry Davis April 16, 2001 Page 2 Terra. Mar Proposal No. P01-1043DC Assumptions We have estimated, of the 37 repair sections on Freeport Parkway, Sections 1,9,10,11,12,15,25,26,and 33 will be lime treated. The remaining 28 Sections will be cement-treated base. One density test will be per[ormed for every 75 to 100 linear foot of final subgrade,or at least 1 test per section. Cylinder tests will consist of one set of 6 cylinders for every 75 to 125 cubic yards, or at least one set per section, or one set per truckload for small sections. The median repairs will be cement-treated base, and testing will follow the same guidelines for pavement. When concrete is placed to repair the 106 sidewalk sections, it will be placed at a rate of 3 sections per placement day. Cylinder tests, will consist of one set of 4 cylinders to represent each day's placement. Cost Estimate Presented on Table I (attached) is our detailed estimate of the base cost to perform the construction materials testing required for this project, it is our opinion, the Estimated Total Cost for the project as we understand it this date, is realistic. Although the actual completed costs of the testing program may be increased or decreased depending on the contractor's progress, no work will be performed which will exceed the estimated total amount without prior approval of the entity contracting those services. In any case, we will honor the unit prices shown on Table I of this proposal and will invoice on a unit rate basis for only those services rendered. Schedule Terra-Mar is prepared to begin work immediately upon notification to proceed from the project representative. We are prepared to respond to the needs of the client in order to allow construction to proceed in an efficient and timely manner. Acceptance Terra-Mar appreciates the opportunity to present this proposal, and looks forward to providing a professional service in a timely and efficient manner.
