FS8901-CS 830902Federal Emergency Management Agency Washington, D.C. 20472 CERTIFIED MAIL RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED IN REPLY REFER TO: SL-NT-NH (115I) Honorable Andrew Brown, Jr. Mayor of Coppell P.O. Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 Dear Mayor Brown: On April 28, 1983, you were notified of proposed modified flood elevation determinations affecting the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM), Flood Boundary and Floodway Map (FBFM), and Flood Insurance Study (FIS), for the City of Coppell, Dallas and Denton Counties, Texas. The 90-day appeal period that was initiated on May 12, 1983, when the Federal Emergency Management Agency published a notification of proposed modification of the base (100-year) flood elevations for the City of Coppell, Dallas and Denton Counties, Texas, in the Coppell Star, has elapsed. The Agency has received no valid requests for changes in the base flood ele- vations. Therefore, the modified flood elevations are effective as of February 15, 1984, and amend the FIRM which was in effect prior to that date. For rating purposes, the community number with new suffix code is 480170 C and must be used for all new policies and renewals. The modifications are pursuant to Section 206 of the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973 (P.L. 93-234) and are in accordance with the National Flood Insur- ance Act of 1968, as amended, (Title XIII of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, P.L. 90-448) 42 U.S.C. 4001-4128, and 44 CFR Part 65. The Agency has developed criteria for flood plain management as required under the above-mentioned Acts of 1968 and 1973. As a condition of continued eligibility in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), your community must remain in compliance with Section 60.3(d) of the NFIP regulations. You should review your existing flood plain management measures to determine whether amendment is needed. The flood plain management measures in force must reflect data shown on the latest FIRM and FBFM modifications by February 15, 1984. The modified elevations will be used to calculate the appropriate flood insurance premium rates for all new buildings and their contents and for the second layer of insurance on existing buildings and contents o Communities that fail to enact the necessary flood plain management regu- lations will be suspended from participation in the program and subject to prohibitions contained in Section 202(a) of the 1973 Act, as amended. If there are further questions regarding the flood elevation determinations or the FIRM and FBFM for the community, please contact the Chief of the Natural and Technological Hazards Division, Federal Emergency Management Agency in Denton, Texas, at (817) 387-5811, or members of my staff in Washington, D. C., at (202) 287-0230. Sincerely, Richard W. Krimm Assistant Associate Director Office of Natural and Technological Hazards Programs
