Road Base Under Asphalt
Dear Mr. Bennett:
The City has reviewed your letter to Schrickel, Rollins and Associates, Inc. dated March
21, 2002. You requested approval to leave the road base used on the detours and use it as
a road base for the six-inches of asphalt paving between Stations 31+56.40 and 32+11.77
on Ruby Road and between Stations 37+58.25 and 38+95 on Freeport Parkway. The
City has no objections, provided the request will advance the project towards its proposed
completion date, and the flex base meets all placement and compaction standards.
The transition area between Stations 36+22.55 and 37+58.25 along the northbound side
of State Road was lime stabilized during the week of January 2l, 2002. This area became
part of the detour, and the lime-stabilized subgrade has been contaminated with rock and
lime stone. Once the detour is removed, it will be necessary to lime-stabilize this area
again or remove the contaminated subgrade and replace it with the required depth of flex
base.
The southbound lanes of Freeport parkway were lime-stabilized during the week of
March 11, 2002. The area between Stations + 35-~09 and + 35+70 became part of the
temporary entrance into Wagon Wheel Park, and the lime-stabilized subgrade has been
contaminated with rock and lime stone. Once the temporary entrance is removed, it will
be necessary to lime stabilize this area again.
Your consideration of this matter is appreciated and should you have any questions or
need any additional information, please contact me at 972-304-7019.
Sincerely,
Suzan ~. Taylor
