Re: .Denton Tap Road
Cottonwood Creek to S .H. 121 Bypass
Dear Garreth:
I have reviewed the latest plan revision received from Wier & Associates regarding the
referenced project, and I have summarized the changes on the enclosed sheets. Three of
the enclosed sheets are a hand written r~view of the changes on a sheet by sheet basis,
and one of the enclosed sheets shows Rebcon's proposed quantity and price revisions
caused by the changes. The other enclosed sheets were submitte~d by Craig Olden, Inc. to
substantiate their request for an increased fabric price.
I have contacted all of the affected subcontractors and suppliers ( North Texas
Contracting, Mica, Mel's Electric, Paver Construction, and Gordon's Specialties)
review the revised plans. Gordon's Specialties is using the same basic design as the
handrail shown on original plan sheet 34, so the unit price for the base bid handrail now
matches the unit price for the alternate handrail. The handrail is composed of 1
square posts on 8' centers, 1 W' horizontal members, and W' square pickets on 4"
centers. Gordon's Specialties will submit shop drawings based on this design if it meets
your approval.
We have changed the unit price of Change Order No. 1 Special Rail because the quantity
has been reduced by 30% due to the elimination of the two median bridge rails. The unit
price has been increased 15.7% to recover our fixed costs which remain the same, and
these have been pro-rated into the remaining footage of the Special Rail.
We have added the increased costs to form and clean-up the bridge deck due to
connecting the two bridges. W6 will now have to work from underneath the bridge to
construct this portion of the slab which greatly increases the difficulty of the construction.
We will subcontract the placement and removal of the temporary concrete barrier rail and
the temporary barrel mounted guard fence to Mica Corporation. Their unit price is
greatly affected by the small amount of concrete barrier nil required.
'The additional Prepare R.O.'W. and fill was necessitated by the elimination of the gravity
retaining wall on the west side of the road shown on sheet 7. I have created a nc-,v itcrn

for the concrete pavers on the bridge deck median, because the oril~,inal concrete paver
price includes the concrete und61'neath the pavers. The 3" Conduit Bored price is
necessary because the concrete pavement has already been constructed where this conduit
is to be placed.
Please review the enclosed summaries, and let mc know if it meets your approval. I nccd
to send Mica a Subcontract as soon as possible to reserve their concrete barrier and to
schedule their work.
Sincerely,
REBCON, 1NC.
