January 15, 1999 Mr. Garreth Campbell City of Coppell Coppell, Texas Re: W&A#94093; Denton Tap Road; Coppell, Texas Dear Mr. Campbell: Attached are four sets of the plan sheets revised to allow connecting the bridge structure over Denton Creek. The plans also reflect the changes made to the gravity retaining wall along the west side of the project north of the bridge. Specific comments are provided below: 1. The east bridge was moved two feet to the west in the revised plans. The roadway alignment approaching the east bridge was adjusted to match the moved bridge location. The impact to paving quantities were insignificant due to this change. 2. The toe of riprap slopes and trail connections on the east side of the east bridge were not changed. The embankment slope will need to be flattened slightly to match the moved bridge location. It was agreed when the design revisions were started that the cost in re-designing the plans was not necessary and the slight increase in riprap quantity could be addressed in the field. 3. The approach walkways connecting to the east bridge will need to be adjusted slightly to match the relocated bridge. The walkway quantity change is insignificant. 4. The air & vacuum valve has been moved to a vault on the north side of the bridge in the proposed median. Sheet 20 indicates the changes to install the vault. The vault will be above grade and will need to be hidden by the landscape plantings in the island. We did not change the landscape plans and feel proper screening can best be determined in the field after the vault is built and all visual issues are apparent. The water line can be tapped behind the abutment for the air & vacuum valve line. It may be preferred to move the vault more to the north than shown on the plans to improve screening space. e-mad to: pres~dentOwter-assoc+com III 5. The rail for the gravity wall has been changed as noted on sheet 31 of the plans. The rail is noted to be the same as planned for the bridge at the hike & bike trail crossing except the height can be reduced to 42" at the option of the contractor. We are forwarding by delivery three copies of these plans to Rebcon Inc. to allow them to begin computations and efforts to provide a change order for the plan revisions. The plans have not been approved by the City as yet and changes may occur after your review. Please notify us if you note any revisions. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the plan changes. Very truly yours, Ulys Lane, III, P.E., R.P.L.S.
