WIER~ P.E.~ ULYS LANE III, P.E., R.P.L.a. 972-462-0022 RE: W&A #94-093; DENTON-TAP ROAD; City of Coppell, Texas. Dear Mr. Martin: Please find attached the items listed below regarding the Final Plans for Denton- Tap Road from Cottonwood Creek to State Highway No. 121 Bypass for your review. 1. Two (2) sets of Final Construction Plans. 2. Two (2) sets of Specifications. 3. Two (2) sets of Final Right-of-Way Maps with set control points. 4. One preliminary construction plan mark-up set. 5. One preliminary specification mark-up. All the review comments have been addressed either by revisions to the plans and specifications or by comments written on the review set of plans. The comments written in the review set are identified below. The borrow quantity is not included on the sheet quantities as it is not an item that is computed on a sheet by sheet basis. A note was added referencing the specifications for computation of the borrow quantity. The reasons for removal of the existing inlet / flume was discussed on the phone with you previously. If they are kept the inlet top will need to be extended to allow the sidewalk to cross above the flume. The 100 year Q for these inlets is only 9.4 cfs and due to the small drainage area will probably have run-off prior to pedestrians coming to the park after a rain. T · e-mail to: president@wier-assoc.com yOU. = The connection of the 8" PVC Storm Drain on Sheet 16 is not a wye connection but will be completed per detail on Sheet 31 of the plans. The elevations shown on Sheet 23A (Bridge Concrete Riprap, Gabions or Cable Concrete Details) are correct. This cross-section is immediately beneath the bridge structure, The riprap and trail begin to rise at approximately a 3% grade as soon as it clears from beneath the bridge structure. Refer to points 3403, PT163, 3398 and PT165 on Sheet 21. This is typical of all four corners of the bridge. Additional gabions have been added on the creek side of the sheet piles to address the concern of maintaining the flowline of the creek. If any bank erosion occurs these gabions will fall in front of the sheet piles stabilizing the creek bank beneath the bridge. Any additional work further into the creek would require a determination by the Corps of Engineers as to whether an individual permit would be required. This would result in a delay of the project. The design of the hike and bike trail at the southwest corner of the bridge has been completed and added as alternate bid to these plans and specifications. The remaining three quadrants are being designed now and will hopefully be completed and approved in time to include them as an addendum during the bidding.
