Box 1364 Coppell, Texas 75019 Subject: Floodplain Management Creekveiw Estates, 232 Bethel Rd., Lot 6 - Block "II" RE: Request for Retaining Wall in Drainage Easement Dear Ms. Street: As per your verbal request along with copy of letter from Nathan D. Maier to you, dated Sept. 13, 1989, and copy of the site plan, we have reviewed your request and have no objection as long as the following items are addressed: -As per the Floodplain Ordinance #87390 Art. 5, Sec. A, Item 4k1, "...the new construction (in this case the proposed retaining wall) has to be adequately anchored to prevent: flotation, collapse, or lateral movement of the structure...". -This request would be approved with the assumption that there be no fill in floodplain, floodway and drainage easement. Per my site visits and as you indicated, the proposed retaining wall is to hold up the soil supporting the existing retaining wall and protect it from caving in and failure. -You indicated that the proposed wall is to be 2" to 3' feet high and requires no engineering, we recommend that this wall be engineered for the reason it is being proposed. -Provide "as built" plans and an elevation certificate to the Engineering Department for our file records, approved and sealed by a registered Civil Engineer in the State of Texas after construction of the proposed wall. -Provide a disclaimer to the City of Coppell to hold the City harmless of any damages incurred by said retaining wall and/or blockage of the drainage system. The owner is responsible for the PAGE 2 Retaining Wall •~, maintenance of said wall should this retaining wall have any adverse impact on the flow of the drainage system, the City of Coppell may upon notice require the owner to remove the retaining wall. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Shohre Daneshmand or myself at 462-8495. This rock wall requires a amah lower wall (approximately 2t feet high} to be constructed to insure the stability of the rock retalnlnp wall. This lower wall Is a protetXlve measure only to maintain the soli at the base of ' the retaining wall. This tower wall will be located in the drainage easement. The well will tie Into natural high Around downstream, and k will not encroach on any affecWe riow area of Grapevine Creek or its tributary.
