(HBC) has completed its first evaluation of moisture levels achieved by water pressure injection at the above referenced site. This evaluation was performed on the entire building pad. The building pad was injected by four passes with water prior to this evaluation. Two borings were drilled on September 18, 2000. Each boring was continuously sampled to a depth of 10 feet with thin walled tubes. The samples were extruded, logged, sealed and packaged at the site for transportation to the laboratory. In the laboratory, moisture content and hand penetrometer readings were determined on one foot intervals. A diagram depicting the boring locations is attached. Laboratory data is provided on the attached Summary of Laboratory Tests. Sandy clays were encountered throughout Boring 2 and to a depth of about 4 feet in Boring 1. Clays were encountered beneath the sandy clays in Boring 1 and extended to the boring termination at 10 feet. Review of moisture content determinations and hand penetrometer tests indicate the moisture levels are at or above the desired levels considering the types of soil encountered in the borings. It is therefore HBC's recommendation that the select fill be placed as soon as possible to minimize the loss of moisture in the clays prior to placement of the slab. This information was conveyed to Dean Construction on September 19, 2000.
