Wier and Associates, Inc. 4300 Beltway Place Suite 130 Arlington, TX 76018-1097 Denton Tap Road (ST94-01) Construction Plans Dear Mr. Lane: The City of Coppell has received and reviewed the referenced plans and has the following comments to offer: 1. Make corrections to title sheet to indicate the limit of construction for Denton Tap Road from Cottonwood Creek to State Highway 121 Bypass. 2. The typical section with the free right turn lane should be for Highland Drive and Natches Trace. 3. Make the corrections to the general notes as indicated on Sheet 3. 4. Straighten the alignment of the driveway exiting Andy Brown Park west parking lot so that it connects 90 degrees into Denton Tap Road. We need to discuss the reason why you are proposing to move the existing inlet and concrete flumes on the west and east side of Denton Tap Road at the beginning of the project. Page 2 6. On the west side of Denton Tap Road, provide a note stating the 5' sidewalk needs to be constructed at the time Denton Tap Construction. The sidewalk needs to be constructed from the north side of Denton Creek Bridge north to the south side of Natches Trace Drive. 7. Provide a north-bound free right turn lane for Natches Trace. 8. Show the location of Natches Trace with the appropriate median opening with left turn lanes. 9. Provide irrigation conduits and electrical conduits between the median openings. 10. Provide conduit underneath Denton Tap Road for funire traffic lights at Natches Trace. 11. Specify prefabricated wyes for all storm drainage lateral connections. 12. Specify omni~ex joint material for storm drainage pipes. 13. On Sheet 25 of the Storm Drainage Plan Profile Sheet show the location of the existing 12" sanitary sewer line. 14. Provide an air relief and blowoff valve for the 16, water line where it crosses Denton Creek. 15. Address the comments on Sheet 32 regarding the Hike and Bike trail underneath Denton Creek Bridge. 16. There seems to be some discrepancy in the detail for the proposed railing on top of the gravity retaining wall section. See Sheet 41. 17. Provide additional information regarding the wrought iron fence detail on the east side of Denton Creek Bridge. 18. There is concern about establishing the flow line of Denton Creek underneath the Denton Tap Road Bridge. We need to discuss and see if there is any type of erosion protection measure we can do to help maintain the flow line of Denton Creek. 19. The notes on the Cap Plan and Sections sheet S4 of 9 are not clear, please address and make changes as necessary. Page 3 20. Comments have been made throughout the contract documents for the paving and drainage improvements for Denton Tap Road, most of the pages have been flagged where we have a concern or a comment. Also, add an alternate bid for a 12' wide trail to extend from the Hike and Bike Trail underneath the Denton Tap Road Bridge into the park on the west side of Denton Tap Road south of Denton Creek. The design criteria will be 6, concrete paving with 6" of stabilized subgrade. The concrete should be reinforced concrete with #3 rebar on 24" centers. There are various other minor comments throughout these plans. Once these comments have been addressed, the revised set of plans should be resubmitted to the City for review. :f you should have any questions concerning these comments, please feel free to contact me at ya~ur convenience.
