Re: W&A# 94093; Denton Tap Road; Coppell, Texas
Dear Mr. Bibby:
I received your letter dated November 30, 1998 after returning to our office on
Tuesday December 1, 1998 after the Thanksgiving Holiday. Our structural
Engineer, Mr. Martin Ledford, P.E. also returned from an extending Thanksgiving
Holiday today. Mr. Ledford and I met today to complete the details regarding the
revised connected bridge today. Attached are copies of the details. The details
are provided by fax via this letter as of this date. Full size plans will be forwarded
to you by delivery on December 2, 1998. The responses to your questions in the
November 30, 1998 letter are as follows:
1. Response to Question No. 1: The roadway width detailed is 35' 10.5" and is
the same for both bridges. We have no objection to increasing the roadway
width to 36' - 0" if approved by the City. In our meeting with the City two weeks
ago, 35' -10.5" was established as the pavement lane widths. If 36' is accepted
by the City, uniformly reduce the center island to accommodate the increased
width.
2. Response to Question No. 2: Refer to the attached drawings for the curb
and other dimensions.
3. Response to Question No, 3: The bottom mat of steel is detailed to agree
with the TxDOT sheet PCPC details.
4. Response to Question No. 4: Scuppers are not needed on the inside uphill
curbs.
5. Response to Question No, 5: We would prefer that a separate pour not be
provided for the median above curb height unless bent bar connections be
provided at each curb location as shown on the attached details. These bent
bars are not part of your current reinforcing steel delivered to the site. If you
have an alternate bar that can provide the same purpose, please forward for our
'T
review, or obtain the bent shape shown. The curbs will receive impacts from
vehicles and need to be secured.
6. Response to Question No. 6: The 1'-7 1/8" solid concrete rail section has
the save horizontal steel size and spacing as other solid rails shown in the plans.
The vertical bars are three # 6 bars on the traffic side and 3# 5 bars on the
outside. The vertical bars are 1.5" clear on the ends and the interior bar is
centered.
Please contact me if you have any additional questions.
Very truly yours,
