Subject: Traffic Circle
Mr. Allred:
I was able to meet with Per Birdsall, our Traffic Operations Manager, regarding increased visibility to the
traffic circle on Waterview. The City will be installing 15 mph speed plaques below the existing advanced
warning signs for the circle. He will also have his people check the reflectivity of the buttons early one
morning before daylight. We also would not have any objections to the HOA applying yellow reflective
paint to the curb. Per said that he would be happy to work with you if that is something that the HOA
would want to do. His phone number is 972 - 304 -3546 and he could give you information regarding paint
materials and application methods. You would need to send a letter to the Engineering Department
requesting approval and indicating maintenance responsibility for the paint if you choose.
One thing that we did notice was that the tracks in the traffic circle appear to be from large trucks with dual
back tires. It is unlikely that this will be solved with added visibility since it is difficult for them to negotiate
the turn. Once construction in the area slows, it is possible that the tracking will be reduced.
