Dear Kelly,
After meeting with the City of Coppell and inspecting the damaged wastewater service on DeForest Court
we believe others caused the damages to the service. The portion of the service behind the curb has been
cut several times by the plumber, the gas company and possibly the phone company, and needs to be
completely replaced.
The portion of the service under paving with the sag in the line was caused by the dirt contractor operating
scrapers over the line after installation and/or a faulty engineering design due the shallow depth of the
service. Our superintendent warned the dirt crew about operating equipment over the services and in fact
repaired one service due to their over cutting subgrade by at leant one foot.
It is our position that the project was installed and accepted according to City of Coppell speci5cations, and
any costs associated with the repairs will be billed accordingly. We estimate the cost to repair the damage
to be 52,475.00.
