WA 01 -01
95% Submittal Review Comments
Dear Mr. Hendricks:
Following a review of the above referenced plans and specifications, the following
comments are offered for your consideration:
PLANS:
General Comments
1. All details that are part of the City of Coppell standard details need to be removed
from the plans.
2. Has the Texas Department of Transportation approved the alignment of the
proposed water line and issued a permit to construct within the right -of -way of
S.H. 121?
3. It appears that the fire hydrants located along the proposed water line may
function as manual air release and blow -off valves. There is no set spacing
increment for the fire hydrants. If air release and blow -off valves are installed in
the same locations as the fire hydrants, will fire hydrants still be required on the
project?
4. A copy of the City's water utilities pre - construction packet is enclosed for your
use in the design of this project.
COVER SHEET

as to whether the utility poles and lights need to be supported.
3. NOTE 14 — Does this note agree with City of Coppell standards?
4. NOTE 20 — If the barrier free ramps are part of the City of Coppell standard
details, they need to be removed from the plans and this note revised.
5. Need to add a note that states that all testing and test points are subsidiary to the
installation of the water line (hydrostatic, bacteriological, chlorination, removal of
all test points and apparatus etc.)
SHEET No. 2
1. The proposed water line runs parallel to, and crosses an existing gas line. Show
the existing gas line in the profile.
2. How close is the proposed water line located to the existing storm sewer? Show
the existing storm sewer in the profile.
3. From Station 0+00 to ± 0 +10, the proposed water line is located outside of the
Coppell Road and S.H. 121 right -of -ways. Will an easement need to be acquired?
4. An air release valve is required at P.V.I. Station 2 +60. Is the proposed fire
hydrant at Station 2 +60 supposed to function as a manual air release valve?
SHEET NO.3
1. At Stations 9+40 and 13 +70, the plans call for 12 -inch stub -outs to the west with
fire hydrants. Are these stub -outs for future tie- ins? Are the fire hydrants
supposed to function as blow -off valves for the creek crossing? In the profile
notes, it calls for a 12 "x 6" TEE, should this be a 12 "x 12" TEE?
2. A blow -off valve will be required at the bottom of the proposed water line at the
creek crossing at Station 11 +30. Is an aerial crossing a feasible option for the
creek crossing?
3. The power poles located at Stations ± 11 +30 and t 13 +50 are in conflict with the
proposed water line.
2
4. At Station ± 14+00 the proposed water line is located on top of the existing storm
sewer. Show the existing storm sewer in the profile.
SHEET NO.4
1. How many electric lines run parallel with the alignment of the proposed water
line? Are any of the electric lines underground? Is the proposed water line in the
same alignment as the electric lines?
2. In the locations where the proposed water line and the electric lines cross, if the
electric lines are underground, they will need to be shown in the profile.
3. Add another gate valve in the general location of Station 24 +00 to 25+00.
SHEET NO.S
1. The proposed fire hydrant at Station 34 +40 is on private property. Can it be
installed north of the proposed water line?
2. An air release valve is required at P.V.I. Station 34 +40. Is the proposed fire
hydrant at Station 34 +40 supposed to function as a manual air release valve?
3. A blow -off valve will be required at the bottom of the proposed water line at the
creek crossing at Station 35 +95.
SHEET NOs. 6 & 7
1. An air release valve is required at P.V.I. Station 38 +00. Is the proposed fire
hydrant at Station 38 +00 supposed to function as a manual air release valve?
2. An air release valve is required at P.V.I. Station 55 +20. Is the proposed fire
hydrant at Station 55 +20 supposed to function as a manual air release valve?
3. Do not use a 12 "x 12" cross at the intersection of "Line B" and the fire hydrant.
Use one 12 "x 12" TEE and one 12 "x 6" TEE.
SHEET NO.8
1. An air release valve is required at P.V.I. Station 61 +70. Is the proposed fire
hydrant at Station 61 +70 supposed to function as a manual air release valve?
2. A blow -off valve will be required at the bottom of the proposed water line at the

General Comments
I. Need to use an updated set of boilerplate bid documents. It appears as if an old
version was used in this set of specifications.
2. Need to include a section for pay item descriptions.
3. The City's address is P.O. Box 9478. This address needs to be revised throughout
specifications.
Please make a written response to each of the comments and revise the plan sheets as
needed. Enclosed is the review set of plans, which should be returned with the next
submittal. Should you have any questions or need any additional information, please
