have reviewed the traffic control plan for the Callahan Addition at 884 S.
Denton Tap Road. In following the requirements of the Texas Manual on
Uniform Traffic Control Devices, I have these recommendations:
The taper length for closing the right lane of traffic is a minimum of 320
feet. The barrel spacing in feet should be approximately equal to the
speed limit, which is 40 mph. 1 would also recommend advanced signs
including a Road Work Ahead and Right Lane Closed Ahead.
The City of Coppell has a policy to not allow any lane closures on major
thoroughfares before 9:00 a.m. or after 3:30 p.m. unless absolutely
necessary. A Street Cut Permit will be required prior to allowing the lane
closure. I have included the application with this fax.
