Date: February 19, 1996 On February 6, 1996, eleven bids were received and opened for Project ST-94-01-WA, the construction of a 16" Water Main in Denton Tap Road from Parkway Blvd. to the north side of S.H. 121 Bypass as allocated in the CIP Program. As stated in the recommendation letter from the consultant engineer for this project, Weir & Associates, we received a good response by contractors and the range of bids was relatively close. Of the eleven bids received, J.C. Evans Construction Company is the low bidder. The contractor is a large utility contractor with corporate headquarters in Austin, with a local office in Irving. Weir & Associates called several references, all of which provided positive comments regarding the contractors performance. In conclusion, staff recommends awarding Bid # Q-1295-03 for the construction of the 16" Water Main in Denton Tap Road from Parkway Blvd. to the north side of S.H. 121 Bypass to J.C. Evans Construction Company in the amount of $269,966.00 and authorizing the Mayor to sign. Staff will be available to answer any questions at the Council meeting. Bid Tabulations are attached.
