Dallas Water Utilities Relocation has reviewed the most recent plan submittal for the
proposed paving of Sandy Lake Rd. from MacArthur to the East city limits of Coppell and has
found a conflict between the proposed paving and the pressure reducing vault structure supplying
water to the City of Coppell. The vaults intrude an estimated 4-5' north past the southern edge of
paving. It is not yet clear and Relocations is currently investigating to determine whether the
alignment of the proposed edge of pavement was significantly revised since the design of the
vaults, or if the vaults were actually built farther North than intended. Relocations analyzed the
design for the vaults' structures and determined that the vaults were intended to be located outside
of the proposed paving and are not capable of withstanding traffic load. Also note that the
proposed top of curb elevation is approximately 6" lower than the existing top of the vaults,
emphasizing this complication. DWU is currently developing a satisfactory approach to alleviating
this conflict.
