The City of Coppell sys~ematicslly has been providing service in the segment within its corporat~ limits for which it hss responsibility and on an 8d hoc basis it has been providing a variety of serviceson the se~ent within the City of Dallas corporate limits for which Dallas has responsibility: fire, police, emergency, traffic enforcement and street maintenance. Service hss included response to: motor vehicle 8ccidents auto fires gss lesks trash fires power lines down weapons offenses illegs1 dumping needs for roadway maintenance needs for right-of-way mowing needs for trash collection. The attached memoranda provide a description of the service by the City of Coppell on the City of Dallas segment. I'm providing this to you in advance of a response to your counter-draft of the inter-local agreement as information for your review and consideration. ZOAD In response to your request concerning activity or incidents worked by the Coppall Police Department during the past ~ear on Bel~line Road (from Shake & Shingle east to Grapevine Bridge), research reflects the following: 1. A total of 12 accidents were worked, 5' of which were injury accidents; . 2. Four (4) cases o~ trespasS; 3. One (1) weapons offense; and 4. Estimate several (6-8) incidents of illegal dumping that area. However, prior to January 1990, not all accidents reported to this department resulted in an accident report being generated; so there may have aotually been more than our files reflect. Road within the City Limits of DAllas The DAllas City limits on East Beltline Road extends from a line 3us~ ens~ of ~he Grnpevine Creek to a line west several hundred feet from the railroad spur crossing. Within these boundaries over the past 12 months, the City of Coppall Street Division has expanded budgeted funds and utlllled manpower to perform the following activitieet - Pot hole pa~ching (asphalt, road base) - Shoulder work (road base) - Right-of-way mowing (fuel, maintenance, deprecation) - Trash/debris collection (~rash bags, hauling) - Comp1a~n~/adminte~ra~ion An estimate of labor and materials that have been utllised to maintain this section of road is estimated at 67~000.00, the bulk of which is mowing. 5GG/sm cca Per Birdsall, Street Superintendent
