RE: Ruby Road Project ST 01-02
Dea~ Mr. Barefoot:
On November 1, 2002, the City of Coppell opened bids for the construction of Ruby Road. The project
was bid with a base bid that included the work necessary to construct Ruby Road with all necessary water,
sewer and drainage. As an alternate bid, the City included items that would facilitate drainage from the
property to the south, along with water line stub-outs for development of thc property to the south. The
low bidder on the project was Tiseo Paving with a base bid of $746,709.15. Their alternate bid was
$802,394.92. This is a difference of $55,685.77. At the November 12, 2002 City Council meeting, the
alternate bid was awarded to Tiseo Paving in the amount of $802,394.92. They are set to begin work on
the project December 16, 2002.
The difference between the base bid and thc alternate bid is a financial responsibility of Duke Realty. This
letter is written to request payment of $55,685.77. This is the difference between the alternate bid that
accommodates development on the Duke Realty property to the south and the base bid, which was the
minimum necessary to facilitate the con~i~uction of Ruby Road.
With this letter, I am providing a bid tabulation of the base bid and the alternate bid so that you can see
the differences in bid items and bid quantifies.
As I stated in our telephone conversation, 1 will copy you on thc pay requests; however, they will be
approved and processed by the City of Coppell Engineering Department. A copy of the pay requests will
be provided to you for your information. If you should notice any discrepancies during the course of the
project please feel free to bring those discrepancies to my attention so that they can be resolved prior to
· t
the completion of the projec.
Again, this letter is written as a formal request for payment of $55,685.77 as Duke Realty's financial
obligation for the difference in the base bid and alternate bid for the Ruby Road project. If you have any
questions or need any additional information please give me a call at your' convenience.
