ST9302-CS 931028 MEMORANDUM To: Frank Trando, Interim City Manager From: Kenneth M. Griffin P.E., City Engineer ~ RE: Sandy Lake Road ST 93-02 Date: October 28, 1993 I have reviewed the letter sent by Kirk King from TU Electric concerning the future improvements to Sandy Lake Road and the need for right-of-way to allow for the reconstruction of their existing wood pole transmission line. As with any construction project, all utility companies will be involved in the loop prior to the approval of the construction plans. The current status of the project is that the City has been working with the consultant on preparing a conceptual design of the general layout of Sandy Lake Road. This includes general alignment and median openings and some of the landscaping considerations. There are still some decisions that will be made by Council and it is my intent that this will be presented to the City Council at the November 9, 1993 City Council meeting for approval of the conceptual design. Once the conceptual design has been approved, a set of preliminary construction plans will be prepared. The preliminary construction plans will be more detailed and provide information such as existing utilities, the cut and/or fill that will be required to construct Sandy Lake Road, etc. Once the preliminary plans have been designed, they will be routed to all utility companies so that they can either verify their existing utilities or draw on their existing utilities. Two sets of plans are typically sent to the utility companies. One is marked up and returned and one is kept for the utility company's file. The information received from the utility company is incorporated into the process, plus there is contact made with the utility company's between the preliminary and the final design. Mr. King is absolutely correct that TU Electric will have to be in the loop as they have an existing transmission line and it is my understanding that they might have some long range future plans for a larger transmission line along Sandy Lake Road. The consultant is aware that all utility companies have to be involved in the loop. This is standard operating procedure for the design of a project. I will make contact with Tim Brancheau to let him know that they are definitely in the loop and will be included in the loop until the approval of the final construction plans. ~le/kgri ~n/sndylk/st93 -02. m m TU~ LEC TRIC KiFk A. Box 478 Coppell, TX 75019 Re: Sandy Lake Road Dear Mr. Trando: The plans to improve Sandy Lake Road appear to necessitate the movement of an existing wood pole transmission line along the south side of Sandy Lake Road. Provisions for right-of-way to allow for the reconstruction of said line upon completion of the improvement need to be identified. We respectfully request your assistance with including this consideration in the planning process for an improved Sandy Lake Road. Mr. Tim Brancheau can provide any additional information you may require; he can be reached at 888-1307. Thank you for your assistance. KAK:jrm 14400 Josey Lane Fannets Branch, Texas 75234
