The plans are for a 4-lane divided roadway. There was an alternate
study done to determine if additional trees would be saved if a 4-lane
undivided roadway was constructed from Cottonwood Drvie eastward to
Denton Tap. The alternate did not save any additional trees. The
Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the planting design
that will be installed along Sandy Lake once the paving improvements are
completed. You will have the opportunity to have input on both the
paving and planting designs in the public meetings.

Susan,
Thanks for forwarding my Email on to Ken. I was very saddened to hear
that
these trees will be removed. They make Sandy Lake Road and this
community
Beautiful.
Is their anyway that we can save the Tree Line as it stands now? What
is the
probability that the
Tree Line will be removed and what is the preliminary discussion on
replacing them? Is there anyway that we can plan to compensate for
the
removal of those trees by being proactive and planting a New Line of
trees
now, allowing time for growth to take place and have some trees ready
for
when the time comes?
Removing these trees is seriously going to affect us. Did you know
that

every morning there are Finches and other beautiful wildlife that come
here
because of those trees. Having that area bare will make all current
wildlife
leave this area. Attracting them back 10 years or more down the road is
not
easy. Therefore if we plant something now we will not lose the current
environment. Has anyone brought up this topic?
What can we do to help? We should not wait to consider alternatives. If
we
do we will have a bare Sandy Lake Road along with all the negatives
that
come from it. Therefore, we would like to participate in voicing our
concerns and desires in the preliminary plans. After all, we live here
and
would like to get some input in the planning process instead of being
the
recipient of what another has planned for us. Which mayor may not be
in our
best interest. The Tunnel of Trees as shown in the Proposal I sent you
reflects what we would like to have. Planting a New Line of Trees
today
will get us we want to be tomorrow. Currently we are not far from that
plan.
Once Sandy Lake Road gets widened there will be an increase in Traffic
and
Noise. Our Kids will be walking to the High School and we walk to the
High
School Games as well. We enjoy this area as it is now, and it is one of
the
most beautiful parts of Coppell. Is their anything you can do for us
that at
maintains the same amount of Trees and prevents the destruction of the
Beauty and the loss of wildlife that we currently enjoy?
We are in Partnership with you to keep Coppell Beautiful.

I received the slide presentation and forwarded a copy to the City
Engineer, Ken Griffin. I hope that you are aware that all of the
existing trees shown in your presentation are within the project
limits
and will be removed. We are still in the preliminary design phase of
the project and are scheduled to meet with the design engineer next
week
to discuss our preliminary comments. We will be scheduling public

Dear Susan,
Attached you will find the Power Point Presentation regarding the
Sandy
Lake
Sidewalk Improvements. As you know we would like to have a straight
Linear
Sidewalk to accomplish the Tunnel of Trees walkways and provide
privacy
to
our homes that backup onto Sandy Lake Road. We would not like the
currently
proposed Meandering Walk ways and this is the purpose of this
presentation.
Please reply with any questions, comments or suggestions. We are in
Partnership with you.
Best wishes,
Jorge Aguirre
