Prestwick-CS030116MEMORANDUM
FROM THE
DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING
To: Greg Jones, Chief Building Official d~ .
From: Larry Davis, Construction Inspector
Date: January 16, 2003
RE: Prestwick Erosion Control
As a follow-up response to your memo of January 14 regarding Prestwick erosion control, please
be aware that Brentwood Builders has not completed the clean up work as they promised in our
joint meeting last year. Mr. Estrada continues to experience silt washing from Prestwick that
fills up his ditches and keeps his lot from draining to Deforest.
Once again, as I stated in my last memo, it appears as though Brentwood is not in compliance
with erosion control and drainage requirements. They were told to make contact with the City
when the adjustments they agreed to last year were completed. If contact was made with another
department, that information was not made available to us. They have not contacted the
Engineering Department and it seems reasonable to assume that the work has not been done
considering the continued complaints.
In addition to Mr. Estrada's problem there have been two other similar complaints directed to me
(one called in to Planning and another to Engineering) regarding this subdivision. The
contractor/builder has been using private property at MacArthur and Deforest to gain access to
lots in Prestwick, in the process causing drainage problems and damage to personal signage on
the property. Another homeowner further east on Deforest reported drainage problems that may
also be attributable to Prestwick erosion control failures.
Please contact me if you feel that further action can be taken to solve this problem.
