Lake Park-CS020522619 Lake Park Drive Coppell, TX 75019 May 22, 2002 Gary Sims, Director- Leisure Services City of Coppell 255 Parkway Coppell, TX 75019 Dear Mr. Sims: I am writing you this letter because I am concerned with the land behind my home, which backs Andrew Brown Lake East. The land on both sides of my fence line often gets very damp and unstable. The land has major problems when the water level of Denton Creek gets high. At those times, the water seems to take a path under my property, as well as my neighbors. Recently I had water seep into fresh holes I had dug only 18 inches deep and the high water level just killed a palm tree I had planted this past May. Since the City is planning on completing a concrete sidewalk around the lake, I feel that it is important to let you know that extensive work would be required to fix the stability of the land around the lake. The land currently shifts too much to support such a concrete structure. It would be very costly in my opinion, both in initial cost and maintenance, to put a path close to our property. A better idea may be to design a wood walkway at the edge of the lake. Such a walkway would avoid the potential problems and associated costs associated with a concrete path. I am sure that the people using the walkway at the edge of the water would prefer it to concrete near the homes. In addition, residents backing to the lake would prefer that location to ensure maximum privacy. Almost all the homes backing to the lake have pools and iron fences, and all of the neighbors I have spoken with would prefer the trail to be as close to the lake as possible. It is my hopes that before you send out for designs of a concrete path behind the lake, that you understand the potential problems and associated costs both long term and short term. I also hope that you consider a path on the edge or close to the lake be a more desirable product for the residents and the City of Coppell. Thank you in advance for your consideration Ronald Sarason cc: K. Griffin, City of Coppell Ken — Gr - iffin -- - - TE - X -- T. - h - t - m ----- Page 1 -]
