This lady called again today and said that some locates have been done in the drainage easement. Is this
something you ordered? Have you had an opportunity to investigate this situation yet?

Ken and I have discussed this but he suggested that I have you take a look before I contact the property
owner.
This is another one of those situations in which a drainage easement runs along the property line and then
opens into the floodplain. I think Per may have already taken a look at this particular location.
The outfall to the pipe is slightly silted and does allow for some standing water to remain. The plans show
that a headwall should have been constructed but never was The swale seems to function well once the
water gets beyond the silted outfall area.
Of course the property owner wants the city to extend the pipe to the creek and fill in the swale. I have
made it very clear that we do not maintain nor improve these types of drainage areas but what do you
think about us doing something right at the outfall of the pipe to make it less likely to silt up and easier to
maintain?
