Proposed Detention Pond
Thc Container Store
Coppell, Texas
Gentlemen:
Subrmlled here arc design rccommendauons for {he proposcd detention pond at the
referenced project. It is understood [he pond will located on [he northeast end of the
site.
Based on borings drilled in the area of thc proposed detention pond. subsurface
conditions are anticipated va consist of 14 feet of dark gray to brownish-yellow, highly
plastic clay over brownish-yellow sand. No ground water was encountered at the lime
of the field investigation. However, the depth to and amount of ground water will
fluc~ate with variations in seasonal and ye~'ly rah:flail.
Existing grade in the area of the dc~eution pond ~s at approxuna~e Elcv. $17.0. The
proposed d~pth of the bonom of[he deIenrion pond is Elev_ 498.0 Based on this
information, the bottom of the excavation for the detention pond is anticipated to be
within the alluvial sands.
Thc excavation for the dezemion pond should allow for a minimum three-foot uhick clay
hner_ Thc clay should be a CL or CH m~mrial with a minimum Plasacity Index {PI) of
25. Thc liner should bc placed in maximum eio~t-mch loose hfts and compacted to a
minimum of 92 pcrcmat and a maxtmam of 98 percent of the maxunum density, as
demrmined by ASTM 12-698. "Standard Proctor". The moisture content should range
from ~- 1 to +5 percentage pom~s -above optimum
