Pavement Failure on Stratford Drive(Station 5+00 to 6 +00)
Dear Mr. Carlton:

The City of Coppell had requested that Rodman Paving, Inc_ have a site
investigation performed to determine the cause of the referenced pavement
problem. Rodman Paving hired Alpha Testing to perform the investigation. The
results of that investigation were outlined in their report dated November 27,
2001. The conclusion in the report were the existence of highly expansive clays
with access to a water source. Alpha listed possible sources of water to include
the utilities installed by Rodman Utilities, L.P. Rodman Utilities performed the
following investigations:
1. TV existing storm sewer lines, tape delivered to City
2. TV existing sanitary sewer lines, tape delivered to City
3. Exposed and observed water services at the meter and at the corporation
stop.
a. 622 and 623 Stratford Drive, observed by City 1 -15-02
b. 618 and 619 Stratford Drive, observed by City 1 -22 -02
4. Checked the Fire Hydrant between 619 and 623 Stratford Drive for leaks
1 -22 -02 by City
All of the investigations resulted in no observed leaks of water. The remaining
source for water has to be ground water. The resulting heave of the pavement is
not due to our materials or methods.
