Re: Sandy Lake Rd - DWU comments
Dea~[r M~r. Me__.._~_~s: -
We have reviewed the September 25 comments from Hamid Baha of DWU concerning
conflicts and revisions to the PS&E plans. We offe.r the following comments or clarifications.
Comment 1:
Response 1:
Sheet 19/41 - Sta 44+00+ Possible conflict between proposed edge of paving
and existing pressure reducing vault structure. Proposed curb line crosses over
existing water valve manholes and vaults. Please re-align paving plan to miss
the north edge of existing vaults. Please redesign curb to miss existing water
valve manholes. Adjustment of water valve manholes to proposed grade will be
necessary.
Per further conversations and correspondence, Jacobs will design the curb to
follow the recessed alignment from the nearby storm sewer inlet. This will
bring the proposed curb to the immediate south side of the manholes, but not
clearing the vaults. It is my understanding that DWU is working on a plan to
reconstruct or relocate the vaults since they can not handle vehicular traffic.
Comment 2:
Response 2:
Sheet 20/42 - Sta 45+70+ Proposed 48" lateral crosses close to existing 30:
water. Please add a caution note.
A note will be added to the plans which calls out the 30" water line.
Comment 3:
Response 3:
Sheet 20/42 - Sta 46+20+ Existing 5' diameter water valve manhole.
Adjustment to proposed grade will be necessary.
A note will be added to the plans for the contractor to coordinate manhole
adjustment with DWU staff.
Comment 4: Sheet 21/43 - Sta 49+60+ Existing 4.5' diameter outlet manhole. Please show
manhole on plans. Adjustment to proposed grade will be necessary.

Response 4: Manhole will be identified and a note will be added to the plans for the
contractor to coordinate manhole adjustment with DWU staff.
Comment 5:
Response 5:
Sheet 22/44 - Sta 55+40+ Existing type 2 air valve and 4.5' diameter manhole.
Adjustment to proposed grade will be necessary.
A note will be added to the plans for the contractor to coordinate valve and
manhole adjustment with DWU staff.
Comment 6:
Response 6:
Sheet 24/46 - Sta 65+30+ P[oposed inlet aligned upon existing 5' diameter
water valve manhole. Please realign inlet. Adjustment of manhole to proposed
grade will be necessary.
Inlet will be relocated 5' to the west of the current location. A note will be
added to the plans for the contractor to coordinate manhole adjustment with
DWU staff.
Comment 7: Sta 30+40+ = 0+90 (21" storm sewer) Existing 30" water flow line labeled as
430.00'. Please change flow line elevation to 436.3'. DWU 685W-678 sh 15.
Response 7: The flow line label will be revised.
I hope that the information supplied above is satisfactory to confirm that the comments from
DWU have been addressed. Please contact me at 214-424-7579 if you have any further
questions.
