ST9302-CS 930831RUG 81 '93 16:16 FROM RADY AND ASSOCIATES PAGE.00E WATER SYSTEM ANALYSIS LOGICAL PROGRESSION OF TASKS NOTE: Rady and Associates will work closely with the city to ensure all requirements are satis~od and client expectations are met in a timely fashion. A. Dam Collection: System 1) Identify location, type, age and size of existing piping network 2) Identify location, size, and overflow elevations of water towers 3) Identify location and size of ground storage tanks and pumps including head discharge relationships and any instrumentation/operation parameters 4) Identify locations and characteristics of pressure regulating valves and rate of flow controllers 5) Identify pressure plane boundaries 6) Obtain topographic map of service area 7) Identify locations and capacity of water supply sources ie. wells, water treatment plants, and outside purchases 8) Obtain population, number of connections, and land us~ (current and future projections) for the city 9) Identify water conservation measures B. Data Collection: Water Demands 1) Locate historical water use and pumping records a) Annual demands: average day, max. day, max. hour, and diurnal distribution b) Identify large volume users c) Obtain sampling of meter books to determine average water demand per type of connection d) Include any periods of water rationing or other unusual circumstances 2) Obtain land use map and meter book C. Development and Calibrate K-PIPE model 1) Work with fire/water department personnel on planning and performing flow tests 2) Obtain status of every pump and elevated tank simultaneously with the checking of residual pressure and flow at selected locations 3) Obtain water demand for the days of flow testing 4) Prepare computer model for system 5) Calibrate computer model against flow test results AUG S1 'B8 1G:17 FROM RADY AND ASSOCIATES PAGE.003 D. System Analysis i) Existing system evaluation a) Evaluate supply sources and water system components ie. elevated tanks, ground storage tanks, pumps, and t~nsmission lines against Texas Water Commissica~ Rules and Regulations, insuranc~ industry standards, and specific syst~rn d~rnands using present max. day demands and an e,xtende~ I~riod simulation which includes max. hour and five flows sul~rimpose, d on max. day a~nd average hour demands b) Determine sys~m deficiencies and potential ~cernedial solutions 2) Evaluate futur~ conditions and system improvements needed to me~t fur-axe system requirements (see 6a.) 3) Incorporate future requin~ments into present system and dm~elop a system improveme, at plan that is compatible with future system requirements 4) Prepare a cost projection and capital improvement plan to implement the selected course of action E. Report 1) Prepare final report outlining the evaluation, re, commendations, and selected plan for final approval by the city. As stated above Rady and Associates will work closely with the city and communicate on a regulax basis the status of the analysis.
