This letter is written as a follow up to our meeting on July 11, 1996 in which we discussed the
sight visibility triangles at the southwest corner of MacArthur Blvd. Based on my reading of
the sight visibility triangle requirement, the landscaping that is shown on the site plan did not
interfere with those sight lines. Therefore, from an Engineering viewpoint, we have no
objections to the landscaping as shown. Because of the future growth of the trees and the high
traffic at this intersection, the Engineering Department requests that the trees be planted no
closer than approximately 5 to 10 feet away from the sight visibility lines so that the future
growth of the branches does not block the sight lines. It should also be noted that the sight
visibility triangles in the Subdivision Ordinance are the minimum that are required. Therefore,
the more open the intersection can be kept, the better the long term visibility at the intersection.
