It may even be against State Law. If want to use their well, they can use it for irrigation. They cannot tie a well into a potable water source. The chance of contamination to the public water supply is too great. The only way we would consider this would be if they completely disconnected from the public water supply and went to well only. For their safety, I would not recommend this. If the subdivision ordinance requires them to connect to the City water supply , I think it should be required. By state law, you cannot directly connect a public water supply system to a private water supply. If you have any more questions, let me know. >>> Teresa Turner 05/13/03 04:31 PM >>> Glenn: Ted may have already talked with you regarding this issue. Carol Primo called me to ask about a remodel in this subdivision. They apparently have an existing water well on the property but are currently tied onto the city's water system. They now want to supplement their domestic water to the house by using the water well to supply water to certain parts of the house. The subdivision ordinance requires new subdivisions to connect to city water but this is a remodel. What do you think? I personally think it's a bad idea....... TT
