John:
I wanted to let you know that I talked with Ken Griffin, the City
Engineer, about the trees in question near Georgian Place. He showed me
a more detailed exhibit and it showed the trees to be removed. He also
told me that TXU has a blanket easement along the south side of Sandy
Lake. The easement was obtained years ago and does not have a specified
width. The trees in question are within the TXU easement.

John,
At this point I would recommend that you contact the Engineering Department. I do not know the
process that will be used for budget allocation for the project. I would not think that Parks & wildlife has
anything to do with this project.
Thank You

John,
Thank you for your quick response. I understand the situation. Our
Homeowners would like to make a case for proving for the "taken" tress in
the project budget. How would we go about making this case? Would it be to
the engineering department or P~rks & Wildlife? Or possibly another group?
Is there still time to get a budget allocation for such a request?

John Valentine

John,
I spoke with our Engineering Department reguarding your request to
replace the trees that will be tak.en out with the widening of Sandy Lak.e
Road. The trees will be removed because the fall within the right of
way easement, and there is no way to avoid them. At this time there is
no budget consideration being given for tree replacement or landscaping.
The current timeline for the project is as follows:
-from hwy 121 to State Road, begin construction in 2004 to be complete
by 2006.
-from State Road to Denton Tap, begin construction 2007 to be complete
by 2009.
If you have any questions, please call.
Thank You

Suzan:
John Elias has been working with this man who lives in the Georgian Place Subdivision. The guy (also
John) is adament about the city avoiding and/or replacing all of the trees that will have to be removed
with the widening of Sandy Lake Rd. from State Rd. to Denton Tap Rd. Even when John Elias told the
man about the delayed timeline for this project, he wouldn't let it go.
Would you be able to address his concerns?

Mr. John Valentine:
The construction of Sandy Lake Road from Coppell Road North to Denton
Tap has been moved to 2007. During the design phase of the project, the
City's Engineering Department will have public meetings with home
owners along that section of roadway to discuss their concerns. The
Georgian Place homeowners can make their case for the taken trees during
these public meetings. If you have any questions, please contact me at
972-304-7019.
