ST9304-CS 980225 GITY 0~ DALLAS February 25, 1998 Mr. Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E. Director of Engineering and Public Works City of Coppell P. O. Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 Re: Traffic Signal Warrant Study at Moore Road/Belt Line Road Intersection Dear Mr. Griffin: A member of our staff has completed the referenced study. The results of the study revealed that the following warrants are satisfied: · Minimum Vehicular Volume Warrant (Warrant No. 2) · Four Hour Volume Warrant (Warrant No. 9) · Peak Hour Volume Warrant (Warrant No. 11 ) Based on these results, the existing traffic signal light at this crossing is still justified. The City of Coppell was authorized to install and maintain this signal since August 8, 1986. This will serve to confirm and continue the authorization as long as the signal conforms to the guidelines established in the latest edition of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. However, we will initiate an Interlocal Agreement between the cities of Dallas and Coppell in the very near future to make this an official authorization to operate this signal. The county has plans to widen Belt Line in this vicinity. We sent our comments back to them in December of last year indicating our underground signal needs for this intersection. If this signal's maintenance is under your jurisdiction, then we suggest that all underground work for the permanent signal be compatible to the one at Mockingbird Lane and Belt Line Road. You might want to contact Alberta Blair, Dallas County Public Works Assistant Director, at (214) 653-7151, to assure that this is the case. If you need additional information about this matter, please contact Arturo Serna of our staff at (214) 670-5273. Sincerely, Sam L.
