Re: Belt Line Road - Project//940-403.1/91-829
(Denton Tap Road to MacArthur Boulevard)
Grapevine Creek Bridge
Dear Mr. Griffith:
At your request Dallas County has asked Halff Associates to evaluate the design effort and
construction costs associated with revising the Grapevine Creek Bridge. These revisions would
accommodate sidewalks and a more esthetic railing. The estimated additional design effort would
be $17,500, and the estimated additional construction cost would be approximately $150,000.
Also, these revisions would constrict the north channel grading between the railroad trestle and
the bridge and would require additional easements from the Crow-Billingsley tracts to the south.
Such changes are beyond the scope of the County's bond program and as such would have to be
.funded by Supplemental Agreements with the City of Coppell. Please review these items and
indicate by May 5, 1997, whether or not Coppell wishes to enter into the necessary Supplemental
Agreements.

Project 490-403.1/91-829
Dear Ms. Brim:
Halff Associates has evaluated the design effort associated with the City of Coppell's
proposed revisions to the Grapevine Creek bridge as requested in Item 16 of your March 6, 1997
letter.
As we discussed in our meeting on March 10, 1997, the proposed changes will widen the
bridge deck by 12-14 feet. This additional width will further constrict the channel grading
between the railroad tressel to the north and the Beltline Road bridge and require additional
drainage easement from the Crow-Billingsley tracts to the south.
We estimate the additional design effort to be as follows:
· modify the current bridge design to widen the bridge deck. $ 9,000.00
This will include changes to the bridge plans, abutment and
bent derails;
· delete the T502 rail and incorporate the proposed concrete $ 6,000.00
rail. Standard TxDOT rail details will no longer be valid for
this project. Custom details will be developed for the
proposed handrail;
· revise the bridge grading plan and drainage easements. $ 2,500.00
Additional concrete riprap may be required between the
proposed bridge and the existing railroad tressel.
Total Estimated Effort: $17,500.00
