Additional Scope of Services
The items listed below represent issues that need to be discussed for possible inclusion in
your design work on Sandy Lake Road.
General Comments
The City will prepare the specifications for the project. The pay item descriptions
need to be tailored for City construction. Can Jacobs provide accurate quantities for
the pay items after we revise the pay items?
Need to verify that Dallas County information on the cover sheet is current and
update the information if required. Dallas County will need to sign their signature
block and their name will need to be on the project signs.
Revise crosswalk and ramp areas to meet TAS approval. Need to show more detail
including cross slopes, running slopes, color barrier between ramp and crosswalk and
pedestrian pads at signal lights. The plans will need to be submitted for a TAS
review.
Jacobs will need to provide construction plans for bidding and the construction phase.
Need to determine how many sets will be needed for bidding. Nine sets are required
for the construction phase.
The project is over five acres and a NOI and complete SWP3 will be required. The
plans include erosion control sheets that are only a part of the requirements of the
SWP3. Do we want Jacobs or the contractor to prepare the NOI and SWP3?
6. Jacobs was not required to provide as-built drawings as part of their contract with
Dallas County. The City will need as-built drawings for the project.

The plans show the width of the road as 28 feet. The recently constructed portion of
Sandy Lake Road is 27 feet. Should the proposed roadway width be changed to
27feet and the plan sheets revised.9
The majority of the horizontal and vertical control points are gone. The City needs a
minimum of six permanent horizontal and vertical control points to be set. The
horizontal and vertical control plan sheet will need to be revised to include these
points. These points need to be outside of the construction limits and will need to be
set prior to utility relocations.
9. Oncor will be providing the streetlights so their foundation details will need to be
used. Will need to revise Note 3 on plan sheets.
10. Need to update ownership of parcels:
Parcel 8 - St. Josephs
Parcel 14 - King
Parcel 19 - TXU
Parcel 20 - Terra Corp. J.V.
Parcel 27 -Thompson, Kimbrel, Moore
11. Fire hydrants at Sta. 37+40 and Sta. 42+40 need to be removed. If the hydrants are
relocated, new fire hydrants will need to be installed.
12. Need to identify any manhole and water valve adjustments, etc. and a pay item will
be added for the adjustments.
13. Is there any hydromulch required on the project?
14. What are the 2" and 3" conduits shown in the roadway cross-sections?
15. The drives for the plant nursery will need a larger turn radius.
16. Are brick pavers to be installed in the median noses and stamped concrete installed at
all other locations?
17. Need to verify elevations of various underground crossings.
18. DWU manholes at Station +44+00 - need to add the following note per request from
DWU. "After staking of roadway and prior to construction, please contact Erling
Holey at 214-671-9524 with DWU. The location of the manholes with respect to the
proposed roadway needs to be verified."
