Re: Denton Creek Erosion Control— Proposed Spillway Repair
Preliminary Design Submittal for Review
OPS # E0201
Dear John,
Please find attached two copies of preliminary drawings and construction estimates for the proposed
improvements on the above referenced project. As we discussed a few weeks ago, an anchored sheet pile
wall has been substituted for the originally proposed cellular sheet pile cofferdam due to cost
considerations.
We have estimated the cost for two different scopes of work. The base limits include 150 lineal feet of
protection that will stabilize the immediate area of concern (i.e., the spillway and adjacent embankments).
The alternate limits include an additional 80 lineal feet (230 total) of protection to extend past the existing
slope failure and severely eroded area downstream of the spillway. Because there are no existing
structures or other improvements being threatened by the erosion and slide movement in this area, it is not
critical that the alternate limits be selected at this time. Should the base limits be selected, a sheet pile
cut -off will be provided at the downstream end to isolate the new structure from further advancement of
the slide as well as to protect from erosion. However, significant movement of the slide and/or ongoing
erosion past the end may require extending the structure or other suitable remedial measures in the future.
Once you have reviewed the above, please call us at your convenience to discuss the recommended scope
of work and final completion of the plans. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Sincerely,
Joel R. Car .E.
