Dear Mr. Campbell,
I have not heard from any one at the City after my letter dated December 13, 2002. We
feel that the manhole installed meets the requirements of the Ty M Manhole called for.
For example the Ty M Manhole calls for the following:
8" Floor w/ #4 6" OC
6" Walls w #4 12" OC
all concrete to be 4000 psi at 28 days
The Materials installed are as follows:
T' Floor w/ 1 mat of W4.8xw3.5x2/6x94 and 1 mat of w4.Oxw3.5x2/6x94
7" Walls w/ 1 mat of W4.8xw3.5x2/6x94 and 1 mat of w4.Oxw3.5x2/6x94
all concrete 5000 psi at 28 days
We feel that the stronger concrete with more reinforcement exceeds the requirements of
the Ty M manhole.
Please note that the City also requires Insurance to be an eligible vendor. The
insurance costs associated with this project are as follows:
Performance and Payment Bond &
Maintenance Bond 3426.00
2,000,000 General Liability 4153.03
1,000,000 Auto Liability 258.80
Workers Comp. Statutory Limits 2597.58
TOTAL 10
The costs associated with these items required by the contract are subsidiary to the
contract. A great deal of the cost associated with providing this insurance was added to
the Ty M manhole.
I have repeatedly asked for a face to face meeting so that we can work out any
differences and close out this project. In June the box will have been in the ground for
one year.
