Thank you for your prompt response. The schools that I referred to are those off of Denton Tap Road
near the Jack in the Box restaurant. However, the problem of u- turning vehicles is at Lake Vista and
MacArthur. The reason I mentioned the schools is that the highest volume of northbound u- turning traffic
on MacArthur at Lake Vista is in the mornings. This leads me to believe that it is parents who, instead of
using Spur 553, u -turn at Lake Vista, go south on MacArthur for a short distance to get to Forest Hill Drive,
and go through the subdivision to the schools.
The most common request that we have had is to restrict northbound u -turns on MacArthur at Lake Vista
on weekday mornings only.
Please let me know if I can provide any further information. I appreciate your willingness to look into this
situation.

Ms. Turner
I'm not clear as to what exactly is the problem from your description. I
do not think you're referring to MacArthur Blvd, there is no school located
near there. You're probably referring to Denton Tapp Rd N. at SH 121
Bypass or Spur 553 (also labeled Vista Ridge Blvd in the Dallas Mapsco,
page 1A) and that intersection is the responsibility of the City of Coppell
as I understand. The City of Lewisville does maintain the traffic signal
at Denton Tap & Spur 553 through a contract with TOOT and Coppell, but
other situations would be the responsibility of Coppell. The property that
has the Jack in the Box on it right in front of the Denton Creek Elementary
and middle schools is also in Coppell. Denton Tap Rd north to Highland Dr
is in Coppell.
If you are referring to drivers traveling west on Spur 553 and making a
U -turn to go for a short distance east on Spur 553 and then turning into a
driveway on the side of the Jack in the Box, I do not believe you can
restrict that movement.
Lake Vista runs easterly from MacArthur south of Spur 553 and wraps around
some business properties and then crosses Spur 553 going north toward the
Vista Ridge Mall. There are no schools located in this area as far as I
know. The mentioned schools are located along Denton Tapp Rd.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

The City of Coppell's Police and Engineering Departments have had
several requests to restrict U -Turns at an intersection that is just
north of Coppell and is actually within the City of Lewisville. The
location is on North MacArthur at Lake Vista. The problem seems to
occur primarily on weekday mornings in the northbound direction.
Several Coppell residents regularly make U -Turns at this intersection
and then cut - through the Vistas of Coppell subdivision to get to the
Coppell Middle School North and the Denton Creek Elementary School.
There is concern that southbound drivers who need to turn to go east on
Lake Vista have trouble seeing around the numerous northbound U- Turning
vehicles since there isn't a dedicated northbound left -turn lane.
I am asking for any suggestions that you may have to remedy this
problem. If I can provide you with any information or can assist
you in anyway, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for
your help in this matter.
