Her concerns are that emergency vehicles may not have access to these sections of the neighborhood and that, in a few instances, parked vehicles have blocked entrances to the alleys. I have attached an exhibit illustrating the areas of concem. Mrs. Jeske has indicated that her neighborhood holds block parties a few times a year and that they aze familiaz with obtaining special events permits through the Fire Department. She also stated that in her discussions with neighbors, they aze opposed to a year-round residential permit pazking area as was done on Copperstone Trail in the same subdivision in 1998. I have had correspondence with Debbie Cravey, who administers special events and block party permits, and she would not object to the issuance of a blanket block party permit for the remainder of the scheduled home football games this season. That would temporarily solve the problem until a permanent and enforceable solution that the neighborhood and the city can agree upon can be determined. Mrs. Jeske indicated that the neighbors would be willing to man the barricades for a period of time before the football games begin and then remove them soon after. They are also open to picking the barricades up prior to each game and then returning them on the following Monday. Debbie Cravey is currently working with the Streets Division to check the availability of barricades. I would be happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have. "CITY OF COPPELL ENGINEERING -EXCELLENCE BY DESIGN" _ _ __ _ _ - Teresa Turner - Re Block Parties From: Teresa Turner To: Debbie Cravey Date: 9/16/03 1:13:46 PM Subject: Re: Block Parties Well.......let me run something by you. The HOA of the Copperstone Subdivision is having problems with patrons of the highschool football games parking along Martel Lane and Auburn Way. They already hold regular block parties a few times a year (maybe the name Marylee Jeske rings a bell). They approached engineering to enact some form of temporary permitted parking but, in the interim wondered if they could use the special event ordinance until we can come up with a solution that would be enforceable and yet, make the neighborhood happy. I think there are only 6 or 7 home games remaining this year. It's unlikely that we can come up with a solution and get it through city council before the end of the season. Thoughts or objections? »> Debbie Cravey 9/16/03 12:55:15 PM »> No, the current special event ordinance does not restrict the number of block party permits per year. »> Teresa Turner 9/16/03 10:05:15 AM »> Debbie -Ken Griffin thought that you primarily handled the issuance of block party permits. If so, is there a limitation to how many a neighborhood can have per year? Thanks! Teresa Turner Ciry of Coppell Engineering Department 972-304-3681 Debbie Cravey Admin. Support Supv.
