Phone Fax# i spoke to Skipper Scott (817) 978-4626, and Dave Madden of the ,Corps and got the following info: The cultural resources issues need to be resolved before Dave Maqden will issue a 404 permit. Mr. Scott informed me that since this is funded by the city df Coppel, they are I msponsib · for investigating the impa~t on those resources. Hem ~re the steps recommended; 1) Contact the Histodc C, ommi&sion in Austin. Mr. Bill Martin is the ~OC- phone 512- 463-5867. Tell him which 7.5 Quad map the site is on and the location of the cros,~ing. Verify with him if the sites in question still exist AND if there has be~n any work done in the area previously. ' ' 2). If Mr. Martin cannot confirm that there will be no impact to the s',rm, Coppetl may need to him an archaeological consultant to locate the site in relatidn to the bridge project. 3) Once the sites are located and the consultant verities that it is a~historic site, the consultant can determine if the project will impact the site, 4) If the site is not impacted, we can then inform the Corps (Mr. Sc~.') of the consultant's findings via letter. If the site is impacted, mitigation m~y be required before the construction can commence. Once the cultural' issues are resolved, Mr. Madden can release fie ~}4 permit. The Corps of Engineers' project number for this site is 199600765. ~ We should reference this number when calling the Corps and in all correspondence.
