I am writing this letter on behalf of the Park Meadow Homeowners
c Association in Coppell. We are the subdivision that consists of 84
homes between Parkview Place and Lodge and we front the Parkway
Blvd. with our homeowner brick wall. We maintain the boulevard of
Parkway along the wall, and the sidewalk area. We pay from $4,800 to
$5,500 per year to maintain this walkway. In addition, we pay
approximately $350 to $500 each year to keep the trees pruned along
the walkway for the many people who utilize the sidewalk for pleasure,
or necessity, and we pay approximately $2,000 to water the boulevard.
The reason I am writing, and then mentioning the cost of maintaining
Parkway Blvd., is because we also front a bridge and several of our
homes have a view of the canal and the Kid Country playground. We,
as paying tax-abiding citizens, pay a large tax base, plus we pay a large
amount for maintenance. We are asking the City of Coppell to offer
attention to a situation that is deplorable. When you review the pictures
enclosed, please keep in mind that the other bridges in the City look
beautiful. They have very white cement walls, they have gorgeous light
fixtures that work and are maintained. We are looking at light fixtures
that have been broken for years. I have been the President for eight (8)
years and this condition has existed all that time, plus more years from
that. Please review the pictures -notice that the light fixtures have been
broken and pipes are sticking up from the cement posts? (Hazardous?).
Notice that the cement is discolored, and needs caulking and cement
painting, plus the posts are in disrepair. Notice that the wrought iron

fence needs some attention, but nothing like the need for light fixtures,
and other items of repair. At one time, the light fixtures were flush to ~ ~
the columns, and I believe vandals snapped them off. (I have enclosed -'
other photos of the bridge along Denton Tap so you can see how the
elevated light fixtures fix that problem).
It is so sad to look at these pictures. Mildew on the bricks, chunks of
cement missing from the columns, light fixtures broken off in different
fashions. This is Coppell, we have lovely homes in the Park Meadows
Subdivision, which we maintain at a high cost, and our City can't even -
maintain the bridge. And remember we pay a very high cost to
maintain the boulevard with water and landscaping costs, plus
maintenance of the trees.
Also, the homeowners of our subdivision have requested the City of
Coppell to supply them answers as to why the brick retaining wall has
been built for the canal on one side of Parkway, but the canal along our`
homes is dirt, grass cascading to the water with erosion, litter and
stench. And we front the park! Where people walk their families.
I truly believe it is our time for attention. The new areas of
development have nice entrances and beautiful homes like ours and they
have attractive bridges, and their waterways are the best. Why are we
coping with disrepair? It would make sense if we weren't doing our
part, but you can see from the figures I quoted, we are. Please, please,
do give our situation some attention, not only for making the City look
nice, but for safety too. It is time for this subdivision of 84 homes, that
has been here for over 15 years, to receive some care for the many years
it is has been neglected as further development of Coppell has occurred.
Thank you,
~~.~ U~~~
