Dear Ms. Stantic:
I received your letter of March 24, 2001 (sic) regarding the condition of the bridge on Parkway
Boulevazd adjacent to Park Meadow Subdivision, as well as your concerns regarding canal walls
for the azea adjacent to your subdivision in the general vicinity of Andy Brown East Pazk. First
let me address your concerns regazding the bridge and its condition. The City's Infrastructure
Maintenance Fund (IMF) plan contains funding to take care of all the conditions outlined in your
letter. The IMF was established by the city of Coppell in 1997 and funds for usage on general
maintenance projects became available in fiscal year 2002. While this project was not included
in last year's IMF funding, it is included in fiscal year 2003 and shall be completed by November
of this year. Maintenance will include painting of the bridge pillars to white as requested,
replacing some of the caps on the pillars, repainting or possibly even replacement of the wrought
iron on the bridge, and reinstallation of the light posts that were on the bridge when it was
originally constructed.
That should address all the concerns as outlined in your letter regazding the bridge. Once again,
the funds have been appropriated in the City's IMF funding for fiscal year 2003. The Public
Works Department will be responsible for finalizing this project.
Secondly with regazd to the canal walls you wish installed, there are no funds available for the
construction of those walls in the City's Capital Improvement Projects. The walls on the south
side of Pazkway Boulevard were constructed when a new subdivision was platted, and the City
constructed a portion of those walls in conjunction with the developer who was totally
responsible for all improvements on the west side of the canal. One of the main issues is
property ownership, which due to an eazlier land transaction had clouded the title regarding
ownership on the east side of the canal south of Parkway.
