Although I have not yet occupied the new building at 1703 E. Beltline
Road, I am aware of a growing concern regarding traffic in that area.
Being out at the job site on a regular basis has given me a chance to
observe traffic flow and speed through the parking area. It appears that
cars from the apartment complex are using the driveway past Sherrill
Hospital, Coppell Pediatrics and my office as a thoroughfare. They are
using the turn lane in front of my office to access westbound Beltline. In
my opinion, this is an accident waiting to happen.
My understanding is that inquiries have been made to consider speed
bumps in this area. It is also possible that the road "humps" would be
effective in slowing traffic or discouraging the use as a short cut. I would
like to lend my strong support for any plan that would avert an accident.
This is not just a safety issue. There is potential liability for the property
owners and the City. If a meeting of interested parties would be helpful, I
