Thta Item eha 11 govern for the furnishing and placing of colored-texurized concrete in accordance with the details shown on the plane and the requirements of these specifications. 2. Materials. All materials shall conform with the respective requirements of the Standard specification Items of "Concrete for Structures", "Concrete Structure a'", "Concrete Admixtures", "Concrete Pavement {Water Cement Ratio)" and/or "Concrete Pavement (Continuously Reinforced)" with the following exceptions: (1) Camenl. Portland cement 9ha11 be Type Z. The same brand and source shall be used throughout the structure. (2) Coarse Aggregate. The coarse aggregate shall consist of durable particles of natural or crushed gravel and shall conform to rtem A21, "Concrete for structures". Gradation for coarse aggregate shall be specified on the plans. (3) Fiae Aggregate. Fine aggregate shall consist of clean, hard, durable and noncoated particles of natural or manufactured sand or a combination thereof, with or without a mineral filler and shall conform to Item 621, "Concrete for structures". Gradation for fine aggregate be approved by the Engineer. (b) Concrete. The concrete shall contain 5.5 sack of per cubic yard. An air entraining agent and/or a Type A water reducing or a Type D water-reducing retarding admixture complying with Standard Specification Item "Concrete Admixtures" may be used. Concrete Strength shall be a minimum 3000 Psi at 28 days. Strength specimens shall be made, cured and tented in accordance with Test Method Tex-416-A. (5) Integral Calor Admixture. Bomanite Integral Color Admixture (as manufactured by Bomanite Corporation). The color shall be as specified on the plena. (6) Release Agent. Release Agent manufactured by 9omanite Corporation. The color shall be ae specified on the plans. (7) Acrylic Sealer. Sealer shall meet the requirements of AsTM C- 309. 08i19i2003 12:52 NTB ~ 9723043570 N0.824 D07 Page 2 of 3 Colored-Texturized Concrete 3. Coastruction NetAods. Any required excavation and backfill shall be done in accordance with item 400, °Structural Excavation", except for measurement and payment, and/or in accordance with Specification Items 1128, "Excavation", and 1129, "Embankment". The Installation Contractor shall have a minimum of 5 years experience in the installation grocess of colored Texturized concrete on pro~eets of comparable size and be licensed by Boman its Corporation. (1} The Integral color admixtures shall 6e added to the concrete at the rate and method determined in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and ae approved the Engineer. Regardless of the method used, the Contractor will maintain a uniform color of the color specified. (2) The concrete mix shall be placed and screeded to the proper grade and wood floated to a uniform surface in the normal manner. {3) While the concrete ie still in the plastic stage of set, using special imprinting tools approved by the Engineer, the concrete shall be patterned using the special imprinting tools to create the surface as shown on the plans and as approved by the Engineer. (4) Application of Acrylic Sealer. (A.) Preparatory Work. Clean Surfaces of existing dirt, chemical films, oil, tar, grease, and stains by methods approved by the Engineer. New concrete all be in place a minimum of seven days before application. Protect plant life and other areas that may be damaged by the sealer. (8.) Acceptable Methods of Application. App 1y sea.ler at the rate of 250 square feet per gallon. Apply sealer at a uniform wet film thickness. Oo not dilute or alter material packaged. Allow 24 hours after application before opening to traffic. 1. Spray Application. Apply sealer with commercial spray apparatus. vse a suitable working pressure to produce a uniform spray pattern with a fan type spray nozzle with orifice size no smaller that 0.035 inch. Apply only at rate specified. Groom sealer to eliminate "puddling". Avoid overspray and deposits of material on other objects. 2. Colored-Texturized concrete of the thickness specified will be measured by the square yard (5y) using the dimensions shown on the plans. 5. Payment. Payment for "Colored-Texturized Concrete" of the thickness specified, measured as speclfied herein, will be paid for at the unit price bid per "square yard" and shall be full compensation for furnishing, placing, finishing and curing of the colored-Texturized concrete. The above payment shall be full compensation for all materials, tools, labor, equipment and incidentals necessary to complete the work.
