No. 1030 - 0099 -00 Dear Mr. Griffin: �r 4ua Qo? - t o Scco6s i^_ a �3 This letter is in response to your letter of January 21, 2003 regarding our proposed pavement grades for Sandy Lake Road near the main entrance to St. Joseph Village. We appreciate your review of our proposal, and we apologize for this tardy follow -up. We believe that our proposal may have been confusing, and would like herein to clarify our design intent. 1. We propose to maintain the plan elevation of 448.81 at Sta 39 +50 as shown on Sheet 18 of the County's drawings, and to extend the plan grade of +0.50 %G westward to a PVI at Sta 37 +75. This would yield a controlling elevation 447.94. 2. We propose to also maintain the plan PVI elevation of 449.71 at Sta 35 +00, and to revise the slope from Sta 35 +00 to Sta 37 +75 to - 0.64 %. ( 449.71- 447.94)/275 = 0.00644 3. The proposed change in slope from Sta 35 +00 to Sta 37 +75 will necessarily change the vertical curve parameters between Sta 34 +50 and Sta 35 +50. The revised vertical curve data are a =0.14 and the top of curve elevation at Sta 35 +00 will be 449.57. 4. A 100' vertical curve with the converging slopes and proposed PVI elevation at Sta 37 +75 will yield an a =0.14 and a top of curb elevation of 448.08 at Sta 37 +75. The low point of this vertical curve will be 448.08 at Sta 37 +81.14. We note that this low point would be in the transition area of the proposed recessed inlet at Sta 37 +75, and therefor should not create a location of standing water.
