Villages C P3&4-CS 950519ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM DATE: May 19, 1995 TO: Mike Hodge, Building Inspector FROM: Mike Martin, Graduate Engineer' RE: R -Rap Slope Protection Wall for 941 Parker Dr. The proposed R -Rap slope protection wall for 941 Parker Dr. (Lot 16 Block A, Villages of Coppell IIIB) has been reviewed by the Engineering Department. The location of the slope protection is shown to be constructed on and outside of the 100 year floodplain therefore a floodplain permit would not be required. It is important to note that according to the floodplain FIRM map and the City's topographic map, the limits of the floodplain is as follows: Measuring from the front property line, 110 feet along the north property line and 112 feet along the south property line (see attached sheets). Also, during and after the construction of the wall no fill or materials should be placed or stored in the floodplain. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at 304 -3681. The R —Ra slope protection system proposed on this drawing is•a flexible system, and is not intended to support any horizontal soil loads due to surcharge loads introduced from adjacent constructions All building loads must be transferred by deep piers or other methods, to soils that are completely independent of, and not reliant on, the R —Rap system or the soils behind the system. B. The R —Rap system has been designed to stabilize the existing soils and to protect the soils from erosion only. C. All Site Plan dimensions given are for reference only, and shall be field verified by the contractor prior to construction. D. Existing piing, sprinkler or drainage systems exposed or disturbed during the work, shall be repaired to their original condition. Any existing sub — surface drain pipe shall be extended through the new R —Rap system. E The main channel of the creek shall remain free of all obstructions during the course of the construction. The contractor shall take precautions that will minimize sediment entering the stream channel. INSTALLATION / MATERIALS A. All reinforcing steel shall be deformed type bars and conform to ASTM —A 615, Grade 60, placed as shown. B. Make all excavations for base bags to existing undisturbed hard clay or stone. All base soil shall be scarified of all vegetation, leveled and thoroughly compacted prior to placement of the base bags. C. All backfill shall be clean site fill free of debris, clay lumps and vegetation. Fill shall be placed in lifts not to exceed 10 inches in depth, wetted to +— 5 percent of optimum, and mechanically compacted to 90 percent Proctor Density. D. Upon completion, all disturbed slope above the R —Rap shall be graded smooth and seeded.
