Drainage Issue on Canyon Drive//~ [ ~l
On Friday, September 26, 2003, Larry Davis and 1 met with Per Birdsall and a maintenance
worker (Gary) to investigate a drainage issue on Canyon Drive (formerly Corporate Drive).
When the 121 Business Park was constructed in 2000, the contractor tied the development's
drainage into the system in Canyon Drive that drains to an open drainage ditch along Coppell
Road. The ditch is within the Brazos Electric Company easement and possibly a dedicated
drainage easement.
We checked all inlets along Canyon Drive and the problem appears to be localized from the ditch
to the eastern storm sewer manhole in Canyon Drive. Water in the manhole is standing
approximately 4 feet deep. All other inlets along the street were nearly dry but with some debris.
Per is proposing to pump the water out enough to send a camera through the pipe to identify the
problem. It also appears that some grading to the drainage ditch may be necessary. I will
continue to investigate the as-built plans for Coppell Road and Canyon Drive as well as locate
the legal description of the drainage easement.
