RE: Fain~ay Drive Railroad Crossing
Dear Mr. Campbell:
As a follow up to our meeting yesterday at the above location and on behalf of the Fort Worth &
Western Railroad, I am writing to summarize our discussion of items to be addressed.
The following modifications to the signs and pavement markings are recommended in order to
be in compliance with "Part VIII - Grade Crossings" of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic
Control Devices.
1. Remove both of the Railroad Advance Warning Signs (W10-1) facing northbound traffic on
Fairway Drive. These signs should not be placed within 100 feet of the crossing.
2. Remove the W10-1 sign in the median facing southbound traffic on Fairway Drive. Again,
this type of sign is not to be placed within 100 feet of the crossing.
3. Relocate the W10-1 sign behind the right side curb facing southbound traff~c to a point
approximately 325 feet in advance of the crossing.
4. Install "RXR" pavement markings and transverse lines such that a portion of the pavement
marking symbol is adjacent to the location of the relocated W10-1 sign noted in No. 3 above.
Also as discussed, whistle signs should be installed on the right side of the tracks approaching
the crossing from both directions ¼ mile in advance of the crossing.
Although we are no~ requesting any changes to the curbs or medians, please keep in mind for
any future projects that no part of the roadway should be higher than the top of rail for a
distance of 8'-6" from the centerline of the tracks.
Please give me a call at (817) 820-6307 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Railroad Controls Limited
