St Andrews Est-CS040116 (2)COPisEi £ January 16, 2004 The Holmes Builders Attn: Terry Holmes 1406 Halsey Way, Suite 100 Carrollton, TX 75007 RE: St. Andrews Estates Dear Mr. Holmes: Thank you for your inquiry about combining the street light standards and the traffic control signs in the above referenced subdivision. Unfortunately we are not able to approve your request. Traffic control devices are a very important to the community, in that they promote safety and efficiency in the orderly movement of all road users. The city of Coppell strives to keep all regulatory signs and warning devices uniform in size, legibility, and placement. This serves two purposes, first it keeps us in compliance with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and second it allows our maintenance crews to stock only those supplies necessary to repair and or replace the types of signs, poles, and attachment brackets that we have within the City of Coppell. As we discussed on the phone, there is also a concern about the ownership of the light standard. The City of Coppell owns and maintains the traffic control devices, and if they are installed on a standard owned by Oncor, there could be a future problem if something were to happen to the light pole. If you should have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to call. Sincerely, Keith R. Marvin, P.E. Civil Engineer Phone (972) 304-7044 Fax (972) 304-3570
